Each visit, Dr. Hailey will scan your spine to check the slight temperature differences from side to side. This temperature difference will tell Dr. Hailey EXACTLY where nerve pressure is (aka inflammation/swelling due to a misalignment in your spine putting pressure on that particular nerve). This allows Dr. Hailey to be very specific when deciding which bone(s) to adjust and after the adjustment it tells her if the correction was made and your body is adapting and healing.
From the moment Dr. Hailey meets you as you walk through the door, she is taking note of your posture (aka body leaning, head turn/tilt, shoulder alignment, hip alignment, gait (walking posture), foot position, arm swing and MORE! All these postural changes can tell Dr. Hailey a lot about how your body is adapting to the alignment in your spine and extremities.
Full Spine X-rays are an invaluable part of the Gonstead System of Analysis. These images show the amount of stress that's been put on certain areas of your spine. This stress can result in arthritis, degenerative joint/disc disease, compression fractures, whiplash injury and more. These x-rays show A LOT about the alignment on each individual persons spine, because no two spines are the same. Dr. Hailey analyzes each x-ray to tell her the exact alignment of your hips and spine in order to provide very specific adjustments.
Palpation is just a fancy word for "feeling" an area using your hands. Dr. Hailey receives a lot of valuable information by feeling the area of nerve pressure, looking for swelling, heat, restriction, skin changes, and more. This helps her decide the exact way your spine has misaligned and therefore the precise adjustment that needs to be provided.
Understanding what the patient is feeling and what types of symptoms they are experiencing can help Dr. Hailey determine what areas in the spine the nerve pressure may be coming from. Symptoms can help separate the two parts of the Autonomic Nervous System (Sympathetic and Parasympathetic) and aid her in applying a specific adjustment.
